Copper Mountain hosts so many activities week after week, it sometimes seems there’s almost no time left for skiers and riders to cruise the slopes. Weekend afternoons and evenings are filled with live music, local cuisine and microbrews, entertaining competitions or wild events that attract people from all over the state, and beyond!

This past Saturday, March 13th, Copper hosted a timely version of the free En Fuego street parties for the entire family to celebrate the luck and beauty of the Irish: O’Fuego. The idea is that En Fuego, when you add the luck and a little culture from the Irish, becomes O’Fuego! And this celebration featured bonfires scattered in all corners of the village – which kept hands, small and large, toasty warm – a flatland BMX stunt show, free music by Canned Haggis (one of Colorado’s most diverse Celtic bands), especially Irish Mar O’Ritas from Margaritaville and gallon after gallon of green beer. The powder just keeps piling up at Copper, making skiers and riders all smiles, all day long! Last week’s 11 inches of accumulation were met at the start of this week with another 8, and Mother Nature is showing no signs of stopping anytime soon. Although you wouldn’t know it with all the sun we’ve gotten. That’s not unusual, since Copper’s climate is all sun on fresh tracks during the day followed by new snow overnight – almost all the time. Of course, the occasional morning or afternoon dumps or flurries only end up providing the perfect excuse to warm up in one of the Village bars and restaurants until it blows over, and then it’s back on the mountain.

As fun as one day at Copper is, imagine waking up for another morning on all that fresh powder just waiting to be split, carved and shredded.
