Designing concept of the mascot

Like the mascots for huge worldwide events such as Olympics and World Cup, the mascot of World Expo is very important for interpreting the theme and expressing the culture. The emblems and images of past World Expos have turned into the unique intangible legacy. The World Expo mascots have not only become the representatives of Expo images, but also embody the culture and spirit of hosting countries and cities.

Mascot, as the symbol featuring the hosting country, will embody the history, development, culture, concept and social background of the country and will play an important role in the communication in political, economical and cultural fields.

Sunset Inn is located in the middle of Jacksonville, NC. The location is actually in a great spot because there are many restaurants across the street. However, if you are looking for a nice place to stay where it is quiet, do not come here.

The price ranges from $65-$80, offering double or king rooms. They also have a suite that is about $120 that is not exactly worth it. They honor discounts such as military, corporate, AAA, AARP, and they offer a weekly rate that lowers the rate to $50 a night.

The most quiet and private location would be on the backside of the property. They offer security on the weekends, and that is because they need it. On the weekends, they are dealing with some of the military that often parties and cause commotion.

Unfortunately, there are other things that you need to be aware of; things such as criminal activities have been reported along with escort services.

Ask many Sojourn pastors, staff and members, and they’ll tell you that one of their favorite blogs is Between Two Worlds by Justin Taylor (Editorial Director at Crossway Books, and Elder at Grace Community Bible Church in Roselle, Illinois).  In fact, it’s one of the most widely read Christian blogs on the internet.  I personally enjoy reading Justin’s posts each day.

Pastor Daniel and I were honored to have lunch with Justin this afternoon, shortly after he arrived in town to speak at the Adopting For Life Conference this weekend at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.

After lunch Justin was a good sport about posing with one of our “I Want New” photos, which we’re using as part of our Vision campaign.  So from the picture we can ascertain that he either:

• Wants new red bricks
• Wants new lunch companions who won’t make him stand in the cold and hold a sign that he knows nothing about.
• or that I know nothing about framing shots, which is why we’re hoping ya’ll will take plenty of “I Want New” photos and upload them at our Vision website.

This week, Pastor Daniel Montgomery will teach on singing, clapping, stomping, kneeling, bowing — all about worshiping our great God through music and rhythm. We all know that some people are more expressive than others.  And of course, whole streams of Christianity have developed traditions that are more or less expressive than other traditions.  Culture, history and even real theological differences all play a part in making us more inhibited or demonstrative in worship gatherings.

And while we can all think of gatherings where emotional display trumps everything else, the Bible — and particularly the Psalms — does give us license and even commandments to worship wholeheartedly.  So what should that look like within the Sojourn community, in 2010, here in the Louisville area?

It should be a fun, instructive sermon, and a fitting close to our sermon series on the Psalms.  And you’ll be able to follow along with further devotional thoughts next week, if you choose:

• Either follow along with a short daily devotional from the free Psalms devotional, available at the Info Table on Sunday at Sojourn Gathered
